Una interdependencia conflictiva: la relación Gazprom - Europa

Abstract

Desde su surgimiento, la relación entre Gazprom y Europa ha mostrado una resiliencia notable que no se le suele atribuir. Las turbulencias geopolíticas que han enemistado en numerosas ocasiones a Bruselas y Moscú apenas han tenido un impacto residual en los volúmenes de envíos, que han mantenido una tendencia ascendente hasta 2018. Tampoco las sanciones occidentales han afectado de forma notable y directa a la compañía. Ambos actores han entendido que su dependencia mutua les obliga a entenderse, a pesar de la existencia de desacuerdos de calado respecto a la duración, modelo o cláusulas contractuales. No obstante, la invasión rusa de Ucrania y, sobre todo, los altos precios de gas con los que Europa ha tenido que lidiar este invierno, han derivado en una pérdida mutua de confianza y un deseo de iniciar un desacoplamiento. Rusia comienza a mirar hacia Asia como alternativa ante una probable pérdida de clientes europeos, y Europa, en pleno debate sobre su seguridad energética, añade la necesidad de diversificar sus fuentes. Ambos van a encontrar limitaciones.
