METHOD FOR THE ANALYSIS OF GEOPOLITICAL REGIONS (MARG)

The end of the Cold War pushed to a second plane the conventional
deterrence strategies among countries, behind the strategies to address highly
changing multifaceted risks and threats which often have non-state actors
as protagonists, capable of destabilizing geopolitical regions, which force
the international community to intervene to avoid contagion. Thus, the
author sets forth the need to develop a method to analyze geopolitical regions,
starting from the hypothesis that none of the existing methods is valid for
this type of analysis. Once the hypothesis is established, the author creates a
method of analysis of geopolitical regions, and validates it by means of an
empirical investigation.
