La geopolítica de los gasoductos rusos en Europa. Entre el realismo y el liberalismo energéticos

La invasión rusa de Ucrania en 2022 intensificó el conflicto iniciado en 2014, lo que hizo aumentar la preocupación por la seguridad energética de Europa por su dependencia del gas natural ruso. Tres de los cuatro gasoductos que suministraban gas ruso a Europa eran objeto de especial inquietud: Nord Stream (1 y 2), Yamal-Europa y el sistema de tránsito de Ucrania, a través de los cuales llegaba gas a Alemania, Polonia y Ucrania, respectivamente.
El presente artículo analiza las relaciones de Rusia con estos países desde las perspectivas del realismo y el liberalismo, examinando
cómo ambas teorías interpretan la geopolítica energética. Mientras que Polonia y Ucrania tratan el gas ruso desde la teoría del realismo ofensivo y consideran su dependencia como una vulnerabilidad estratégica, Alemania ha adoptado tradicionalmente la postura propia del liberalismo institucional y percibe el gas como un bien comercial que fomenta la estabilidad.
Los hechos muestran las diferencias en las percepciones del gas natural, los gasoductos y la relación con Rusia, así como las estrategias energéticas nacionales, y cómo estas diferencias no impidieron la interrupción del suministro de gas, lo que causó que el realismo ofensivo se erigiera como el enfoque interpretativo dominante. Esto ha dado lugar a un nuevo mapa de gasoductos y a una nueva política hacia Rusia.
